Celebrations of the topping out of Ventspils Science and Innovation Center are under way. Traditionally, the topping out is celebrated when the highest peak of the building is reached during construction – the roof load-bearing structure is completed.
Aivars Lembergs, Chairman of Ventspils City Council, Andris Kausenieks, Director of Ventspils City Municipality Institution “Komunālā pārvalde”, Ventspils City Council management, Construction Contractor – “LNK Industries Group” General Partnership, construction project author – “PS AMBRASAS PB” General Partnership, construction supervisor – SIA “Firma L4”, Ventspils City Municipality Institution “Ventspils Digitālais centrs” and other cooperation partners all participated in the celebratory event.
The total area of Ventspils Science and Innovation Center will be around 6300 m2, including: Science Center (about 4500 m2), where a total of 88 exhibits are planned, related to physics, chemistry, geography, mathematics, technologies, self-knowledge, as well as various thematic galleries of interactive booths. Visitors will also be able to participate in science shows, creative workshops, as well as various educational activities. In turn, the total area of the Innovation Center will be around 1,800 m2, where rental premises are provided for attracting and supporting young entrepreneurs, as well as creating new jobs.
The construction of Ventspils Science and Innovation Center was started on October 11, 2019, but the opening of the center is currently planned for spring 2022. The Science and Innovation Center is being funded by Ventspils City Municipality, the State of Latvia and the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union.
