The LNK Sporta Parks (LNK SP) sports complex has been officially opened in a ceremonial event. It is the largest privately developed sports complex in Latvia and one of the most modern sports infrastructure facilities in the Baltics.
Speeches at the opening ceremony were delivered by Artjoms Milovs, Head of the LNK group of Companies and Chairman of the Board of LNK Industries; Viesturs Kleinbergs, Chairman of the Riga City Council; Vadims Ļašenko, President of the Latvian Football Federation; Mariona Gava, FIFA Regional Coordinator; and Denis Bastari, Head of National Associations Development at UEFA. The event was also attended by industry professionals and project partners.
Construction of LNK SP began in August 2020, with total investments in the complex reaching approximately EUR 20 million. The project was technically complex and ambitious, involving the demolition of 31 buildings. One of the key challenges was preparing the field foundations with exceptionally high precision, up to just 4 millimeters. Today, LNK SP is a multifunctional sports complex featuring high-quality football infrastructure, as well as beach tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts. The complex also offers extensive support facilities for athletes, including a gym, medical and physiotherapy rooms, changing rooms, and accommodation and leisure amenities. The complex includes seating for more than 1,700 spectators, with a central stand of 1,000 seats and additional stands with 700 seats, as well as VIP boxes. The territory has been landscaped, with parking for more than 300 vehicles, along with sports and recreational infrastructure for a wide range of user groups.
Artjoms Milovs, Head of the LNK group of Companies and Chairman of the Board of LNK Industries:
“Personally, LNK SP has always been more than just a sports infrastructure project for me. Of course, professional matches and high-level competitions are already taking place here, but my vision was for this to become a true home for children, young people, and everyone for whom sport is part of everyday life. I hope this will be a place where future athletes grow, where teams, families, and friends come together, and where there is constant energy – training, emotions, and movement every day. From the very beginning, we understood this would not be a typical business project – it is an investment in people, society, and the future. That is what makes this project special. We have invested not only significant financial resources but also our belief in the importance of sports infrastructure for societal development. Today, we can proudly say that this goal has been achieved.”
Vadims Ļašenko, President of the Latvian Football Federation:
“LNK SP is a strong example of how a clear vision and dedicated work can result in modern sports infrastructure. Projects like this are extremely important for Latvian football – they provide high-quality conditions for training and competitions and inspire the younger generation. A sincere thank you to Artjoms Milovs and his family for their multi-million investment in bringing this project to life. It is very rewarding to see that football infrastructure in Latvia is being developed not only in cooperation with the state and municipalities but also with private investors. We already see that this venue attracts a wide football community, and I am confident it will become an important center for both clubs and national teams. We have already hosted matches of the Latvian women’s national team here, and we have agreed with UEFA that the next match of the Latvian men’s national team will also take place at this facility.”
In addition to sports infrastructure, a new two-storey building with a total area of 2,530 m² has been constructed, providing a complete environment for athlete preparation and daily operations. The building includes a modern gym, dining facilities, changing rooms, medical areas, and dedicated infrastructure for the RFS first team. The second floor houses office space and a hotel with 24 rooms for athletes. The building has been developed in line with energy efficiency principles and is equipped with modern technologies. The surrounding area has also been expanded with 140 additional parking spaces, which are free of charge and ensure convenient access for visitors.
Raimonds Grants, Director of LNK Sporta Parks:
“The opening of this sports complex further strengthens LNK SP’s position as one of the most modern sports infrastructure facilities in the Baltics. I remember my first visit to this site, when the area was just beginning to be cleared – old buildings were being demolished and overgrown vegetation removed. At that time, it was clear that RFS would finally have a home. However, it was difficult to imagine that the result would be such a large-scale and modern complex as we see today. Today, the venue hosts top-level matches, amateur tournaments, training sessions, camps, and festivals. It brings a strong sense of pride and fulfillment to have been part of this journey and to see how the project continues to develop and contribute to the city’s growth.”
LNK SP is designed for professional teams, youth development, and community engagement in sports activities. The complex also includes additional sports and leisure facilities, such as outdoor training areas, a teqball court (a sport combining football technique with table tennis elements), a children’s playground, as well as a café and a shop.
LNK SP already serves as the home base for football club RFS and is set to become a key sports hub in Latvia and the Baltic region.
