The most modern and environmentally safest fertiliser handling and short-term storage terminal in Europe. The terminal handles cargo in a completely closed system, where fertiliser temperature and other parameters essential for chemical safety are continuously monitored.

LNK Industries carried out the full cycle construction of the onshore part of the terminal; built a 15-metre-deep pier structure; designed, manufactured and installed the steel structures for the process lines; constructed access roads and landscaped the area of 7,888 square metres.
The terminal has eight domed storage tanks with a total capacity of 180,000 tonnes. They were built using pneumatic mould technology — the domes were reinforced with concrete under a special impermeable membrane shaped by air pressure. The warehouses are equipped with overhead and underground conveyor galleries for fertiliser transport. The need to adapt the terminal’s structures and process lines to a chemically aggressive environment meant that a number of restrictions had to be imposed on the materials and technologies used, such as the complete elimination of galvanised metal structures.

The conveyors of the process lines are equipped with dust extraction equipment to reduce airborne fertiliser particles. In line with strict EU environmental safety requirements, the terminal is also outfitted with a closed sewerage and wastewater treatment system. LNK Industries successfully implemented three construction phases of the Riga Fertilizer Terminal, the last of which took place after the opening of the terminal, without stopping its operations.
