The Mažeikiai Viaduct was built to unite two parts of this Lithuanian city which were previously separated by a busy railway line leading to the only oil refinery in the Baltics. By providing a two-lane road for traffic and easy pedestrian access across the railway, the viaduct will contribute to the smooth development of Mažeikiai while also significantly improving traffic safety. Two lifts on either side of the viaduct will additionally ensure accessibility for people with reduced mobility. As part of the project, LNK Industries manufactured in-house the viaduct’s steel structures: a 140-metre-long pedestrian section weighing 120 tonnes and a 120-metre-long car section weighing 270 tonnes.

The construction of the viaduct was carried out without interfering with either vehicle or rail traffic. This was made possible by the creation of an additional level crossing and careful minute-by-minute coordination. Thanks to our own production and assembly capabilities, LNK Industries carried out all the steelwork for the viaduct, while the road construction was carried out by our Lithuanian partners Eurovia Lithuania, a Vinchi holding company. The works were successfully completed in record time.
