The residential and commercial project Heart of Hanza has received an A+ energy efficiency class rating for primary non-renewable energy consumption and Class A for heating, meeting the requirements of a nearly zero-energy building, according to the building’s provisional energy certificate.
Heart of Hanza is a modern residential building located in the quiet center of Riga, combining sustainable architecture, high living comfort, and energy-efficient engineering solutions. The seven-story apartment building with an underground parking garage has been designed with the goal of reducing long-term operating costs and minimizing environmental impact.
High energy efficiency is ensured by high-quality building envelope structures, mechanical ventilation with 78 percent heat recovery, and centralized heating based on renewable energy sources. The energy certification is based on the actual construction results and has been prepared by an independent certified expert. Each apartment is equipped with an autonomous ventilation system, ensuring a healthy indoor climate and a high level of comfort with minimal energy consumption.
“Heart of Hanza is one of our largest civil construction projects, a complex and large-scale development, the implementation of which in the historical center of Riga requires special precision and a high standard of construction execution. The building’s A+ energy efficiency rating confirms that this location has received exactly the type of building it needed, well-considered and sustainable. From our side, construction was carried out with a full understanding of the urban context and future requirements, strictly adhering to the high construction standards defined by the project,” emphasizes Genadijs Kamkalovs, CEO of AS LNK Industries.
The Heart of Hanza project is based on the principles of sustainable development, creating a high-quality and thoughtful living environment for both residents and the city as a whole. In addition to the A+ energy rating, the project includes practical and environmentally friendly solutions. Rainwater storage tanks have been built in the basement, the inner courtyard is car-free, and the landscaping is created in natural soil, providing favorable growing conditions for trees and shrubs. The building is fully accessible for wheelchair users and parents with strollers, while the courtyard features children’s play areas, spaces for relaxation, and exercise zones.
The project developer is SIA LNK Properties, the architectural and interior design authors are AB3D, and the landscaping design is by ZALA Landscape Architects. The building is scheduled for commissioning in spring 2026.
