The construction of the Rail Baltica overpass at RIX Riga Airport continues span by span!
Photos from the construction site, where 3-meter-high steel beams are being installed with the help of heavy machinery and with remarkable precision – like an engineering LEGO set.
These beams are made of weathering steel, which is intentionally left unpainted. Over time, a patina – a natural oxide layer with a warm orange-brown hue – forms on the surface, protecting the material and preventing corrosion.
AS “LNK Industries” is carrying out the construction work as part of the consortium “BSL Infra,” which includes the Austrian company “Swietelsky AG” and Latvian construction companies: road construction firm SIA “Binders,” and one of the largest construction companies in Latvia, AS “LNK Industries.”
The Rail Baltica railway station at Riga Airport will be the first high-speed rail and air transport connection hub in the Baltics.
