Waste management complex Getliņi EKO
Location: 57 Kaudzisu Street, Rumbula, Stopini District, LV-2121, Latvia
About the project: In 2001, AS LATVIJAS TILTI, a company of the LNK Industries construction and production group, by the order of SIA Getliņi EKO and design of SIA Geo Consultants and Swedish company SWECO, has implemented the first stage of conservation of the waste landfill of 35 hectare created during the Soviet Union time, in order to prevent environmental pollution in the old part of the waste landfill and ensure environmentally-friendly waste management according to international standards, as well as create an alternative energy source. AS LATVIJAS TILTI is the first company, which began implementation of the reclamation project in Latvia. The Getliņi EKO project implemented in Stopinu Region has no equivalent in Latvia in terms of scale. Nowadays, this technology is widely used in a number of countries around the world, especially in the Scandinavian countries, making it possible to manage waste in environmentally-friendly way and at the same time to use the territory both for alternative energy production and for livestock growing and agricultural work. The works executed by AS LATVIJAS TILTI included waste levelling and creation of the protective layer of clay above the waste of 0.5 metre thick with a total volume of 180,000 m3, thus preventing the escape of harmful gases into the environment. The protective layer is covered with soil and grass is planted on it to provide a visually appealing environment design and functionality – the possibility to grow plants or feed cattle. A so called foot drain is arranged around the mountain of waste that serves as a barrier to the shallow groundwater contamination. The company has also made 172 vertical drill holes to a depth of 30 m with diameter up to 50 cm, as well as installed the pipeline that connects the holes with gas power station. Gases that appear as a result of the waste biodegradation are isolated from the environment, delivered to the power unit by the pipeline system and burned in internal combustion engines, which provide production of alternative electrical energy and thermal energy for economic activities, including heating of greenhouses. Four gas regulation stations have been installed to ensure high-quality gas composition. AS LATVIJAS TILTI has also implemented construction of IB and IIIA biodegradation cells. Waste is kept and biogas energy is produced in 90x180 m large, moisture-proof biodegradation cells.

Metal structures
Metal structures are being produced in the workshops of LNK Industries for our own projects as well as made on commission for bridges, frames of marine constructions (wharves and piers), ironworks for production facilities and civil engineering projects.
The production facilities are located in Riga and encompass an area of 10,000 sq. metres. They boast modern welding equipment, including automatic welding machines, semi-automatic machines and robots, automatic metal processing and metal cutting machines, as well as large capacity painting and shot blasting chambers, fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. We employ 50 welders with international certificates to carry out demanding tasks.
Production facilities have cranes at their disposal with a hoisting capacity of up to 30 tons. Railway spur tracks with our own shunting engines and the proximity of motorways facilitate the delivery of any production to the site.
To guarantee both the accuracy and efficiency of assembling works on the customer’s site, in particularly challenging circumstances, our specialists perform an on-site test assembly of complex items to elaborate the end assembling technologies down to the minor details.

Ferroconcrete structures
Production of ferroconcrete (reinforced concrete) structures is the very basis of the contemporary building industry, which is true with regard to infrastructure, industrial or public construction projects alike. Prefabrication of structures at a plant cuts down the assembly costs and shortens the production period.
LNK Industries manufactures reinforced concrete structures, both for its own projects and on commission by offering a wide range of standard products, manufactures ferroconcrete structures such as prism piles, panels and slabs for building and bridge construction. We also produce non-standard customised reinforced concrete structures, such as borders, barriers, staircases, etc., and guarantee the manufacturing of any structure precisely, according to the customer's specifications.
The production facilities take up an area of 5,000 sq. metres and have their own concrete plant and a special specimen testing laboratory. We have equipment at our disposal for the manufacturing of steel frames, casing for standard and non-standard reinforced concrete items as well as steaming chambers. 25 people are employed in production.

LNK Industries has its own concrete plant and more than 100 units of mobile machinery: concrete trucks, concrete pumps, mobile and stationary cranes, pile-driving machines, bulldozers, excavators, prime movers, specialized transportation platforms, etc. Many of the above machines are unique and accessible in very limited quantity in the Baltic countries.
The high-capacity machinery stock guarantees that LNK Industries always performs works in due quality and by the set deadlines, while complying with environmental requirements and exercising due care with regard to utilization of resources.
All LNK Industries machines are fully staffed with highly qualified operators and are capable of working in a three-shift mode.
The company’s own construction equipment fleet gives us a strong competitive edge and our customers can depend upon us to fulfill their orders in short term and at lower expenses, whilst being assured that the contractor will keep its promises. This is why LNK Industries constantly upgrades its technological capacities, as during the past five years over €5 million have been earmarked for these purposes.
